Let there be brunch! Olivia Gibson reviews Sunday Brunch at InterContinental London Park Lane
Situated at one of the capital's most prestigious addresses, InterContinental London Park Lane presents modern luxury in the heart of Mayfair. Inspired by its location overlooking the Royal Parks, the hotel features elegant natural interiors and award-winning seasonal cuisine. With an array of dining experiences, guests will surely enjoy delicious dishes served using high-quality ingredients by expert chefs. I had the privilege of visiting the property with my partner to review the Sunday Brunch with Unlimited Tipple, where we ate a bit too much while we enjoyed glasses of prosecco for the ultimate experience.
Set in the elegant surroundings of the hotel’s main restaurant, Theo Randall at the InterContinental, we enjoyed a banquet fit for a king, with a focus on the highest-quality British produce that transcends ordinary dining with loved ones. It’s perfect for celebrations, bridal showers surrounded by your best girls, or pre-wedding dates for quality time away from planning. Executive Chef Lalit Kumar, with his culinary prowess, crafted a visually stunning array of dishes that were as delightful to the eyes as they were to the palate.
What better way to start the experience than the live egg and waffle station, where we witnessed the chefs prepare eggs with a flare to our liking? I opted for the three-egg omelette, full of fresh vegetables like mushrooms, onion, cheese, tomatoes, and chillies for a kick.
Up next was the fresh section of cold and hot starters. The spread overflowed with delicate flavours and was a feast for the eyes, with salads, cold meat, smoked fish, fresh bread, and dips. My plate was full of leafy greens, turkey, bread, humous, mozzarella, olives, croutons and the most delicious, creamy hummus! Each flavourful bite left me wanting more, but there were still plenty of courses to enjoy, and it was time for the main event!
The traditional British Sunday roast was packed with bold characteristics and rich tones. Let me quote my partner, "These are the best roast potatoes I've ever had", and boy, was he not wrong! The golden, buttery, creamy side dish had a crunchy exterior but fluffy interior; it was heavenly – I'm very passionate about my potatoes! We opted for the Gloucestershire beef Wellington and juicy Kentish chicken paired beautifully with a medley of seasonal vegetables, including tender carrots, parsnips and tender stem broccoli, all perfectly cooked.
Let's not forget about one of my favourite parts of a roast, cauliflower cheese. The rich and silky sauce wasn't overpowering and undoubtedly flavourful. The harmonious flavours complemented each other beautifully.
I was seriously getting full at this point, but of course, I had to make room for the light, crispy and fluffy waffles with an array of toppings. I kept things classic with a sweet berry compôte, whipped cream and fresh fruit. Homemade pastries, local British cakes and tarts swiftly followed. There was something for everyone with pan au chocolates, lemon meringues, cheesecakes, muffins, cakes and mousses. Lastly, before entering a food coma, we enjoyed the selection of moreish cheeses, fruit chutney, wheat wafers and walnut bread.
The banquet is priced at £69 and includes a range of seasonal fruit juices, teas, and coffee. Guests can elevate the experience with a glass of champagne (£79) or upgrade to unlimited prosecco and a vibrant Bloody Mary like us (£89). The brunch is open every Sunday from 12.30 pm to 5 pm, with the last sitting at 2.30 pm.
Overall, we had a delightful dining experience at InterContinental London Park Lane, thanks to the professional, attentive, and efficient team who ensured we had the most delightful meal. We will definitely be returning in the future! Book it: https://parklane.intercontinental.com/dine/sunday-brunch
